Greetings from Athens!
I am attending the European Association of Cardiovascular imaging’s annual meeting, EuroEcho and Other Imaging Modalities. The first day featured clinical and advanced applications of 3D echo, cardiac mechanics and hemodynamics in heart failure, the right heart and tricuspid valve, and clinical applications of the EAE/ASE joint guidelines. Concurrently, there was a program on cardiac CT and MRI, and many excellent abstracts. I had the pleasure of participating in the judging of the Young Investigators Award Session for Clinical Research. The 3 presenters were very well-prepared. The meeting day concluded with the EACVI business meeting during which Professor Patricio Lancellotti became the new president.
In the evening, ASE hosted its second annual members’ reception at the EAE. We enjoyed an evening view of the Acropolis while quaffing wine and consuming local appetizers. The caprese salad drizzled with a buttery, smooth local olive oil was my favorite. The event was enjoyed by approximately 100 people. Please see the photos taken by Rhonda Price, our Chief Standards Officer, and Meredith Morovati, our Vice President of Membership and Fellowship. ASE Booth in the Athens Megaros Convention Center. Alan Pearlman and his excellent reviewers for JASE Vice President Neil Weissman talks with guests at ASE's member reception. Drs. Senior, Kaul and Lang enjoy the camraderie at the reception. Here I am chatting with an ASE member and our ASE 2013 Program Chair, Judy Hung, MD. ASE CEO Robin Wiegerink talks wtih President-Elect Benjamin Byrd, MD. Some of the delicious desserts.
